Some would say we have an insurmountable challenge ahead of us. But maybe some of those obstacles aren't so large after all. For example, did you know that if turnout remains at about the same level for the General Election as we have seen so far in elections this year, our campaign will only need to obtain about 16,000 more votes than our US Senate candidate received in the 2008 election in order to reach the 20% vote threshold in the US Senate race?
Why is the 20% mark important to a Libertarian running in a statewide race? 20% solidifies a 2nd place finish in a 3 way race - and we may be able to do it with only 16,000 more votes than our Senate candidate picked up seven years ago. Of course, winning a US Senate seat outright would be precedent setting for any Libertarian but even 2nd place would certainly propel the Libertarian Party of Georgia to a new position in Georgia politics.
Your donation today helps us reach out to those 16,000 additional voters across the state of Georgia we didn't reach in 2008. The victory this year of underfunded candidate Dave Bratt over House Majority leader Eric Cantor in Virginia certainly proves what can be possible.
